Juliette Binoche will chair the jury at the Cannes Film Festival. Among the other members is Hollywood star Halle Berry.
French actress Juliette Binoche, 61, was confirmed a few weeks ago as the president of the jury for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The organizers have now announced, including via Instagram, who will join the successor to “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig, 41, in selecting the winner of the Palme d’Or.
This is the Jury
The jury for the 78th edition of the International Cannes Film Festival includes Hollywood star Halle Berry, 58, and U.S. actor Jeremy Strong, 46, who is acclaimed for his role in the series “Succession.” Also joining in May will be Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia, 39, South Korean director Hong Sangsoo, 64, and their Mexican and Congolese colleagues Carlos Reygadas, 53, and Dieudo Hamadi, 41. Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher, 46, and French-Moroccan writer Leïla Slimani, 43, will also be part of the jury.
At the 78th International Cannes Film Festival, taking place from May 13 to May 24, 2025, the jury will select the winning film from among 21 entries in the competition. The Palme d’Or will be awarded during the closing ceremony on May 24. Last year, “Anora” by Sean Baker, 54, received the top prize.
A Special Return for Binoche
Binoche made her debut in Cannes 40 years ago. Although she has since returned to the Côte d’Azur several times, chairing the jury is a very special honor. “In 1985, I climbed the steps for the first time with the excitement and uncertainty of a young actress. I never imagined that 40 years later I would return in the honorary role of jury president,” Binoche said in February. “I appreciate the privilege, the responsibility, and the absolute necessity of humility.”
