When Akiane Kramarik was just eight, she painted a piece that would inspire millions around the world—”Prince of Peace,” an image of Jesus that seemed almost otherworldly. What made the painting so powerful wasn’t just Akiane’s artistic skill, which was incredible for her age.
It was the moving story behind the painting, a journey filled with visions, loss, recovery, and a deep spiritual connection. After being mistakenly sold and hidden for sixteen years, the painting returned to Akiane, offering a glimpse into her unique life and spiritual path.
Now 28 years old, Akiane is a well-known painter, author, and philanthropist. However, she still speaks of “Prince of Peace” as one of the most important moments in her life. According to Akiane, the painting came from a “visionary inspiration,” a moment where she felt something greater guiding her hand.
“It comes from God,” she said. “His voice is soft and lovely.” The painting shows Jesus in a gentle, human light, radiating love and peace. This connection to the divine continues to inspire Akiane’s work.
Growing up in a small Idaho town, Akiane didn’t come from a religious background. Her mother, Forelli, was Lithuanian, and her father was American. They were agnostic and didn’t practice any faith. Akiane’s mother shared that religion wasn’t a topic of discussion in their home. “We didn’t attend church, pray, or talk about God,” she said.
“Then suddenly, our daughter started talking about God’s love and wanting to paint what she saw. It was amazing.”
By the time Akiane was four, she began sharing vivid dreams and visions with her parents. She spoke of visiting heaven, describing it as a place filled with light, peace, and beauty. She said she had seen Jesus and felt an overwhelming desire to paint him.
Her parents, confused but supportive, watched as Akiane picked up her brushes and created art that seemed far beyond her age. It was as though her talent was a gift from God, and her need to express it through painting couldn’t be stopped.
The story of “Prince of Peace” became even more incredible when Akiane began searching for the right model. She was determined to find someone who looked like the Jesus from her visions. “I spent a long time looking for a model,” she explained. She prayed to find someone who matched her vision.
One day, a carpenter came to their home, and Akiane knew right away. “That was him,” she told her mother. The carpenter agreed to model for her, and she began painting.
The result was extraordinary. “Prince of Peace” showed Jesus with a calm, loving expression, his eyes full of kindness. The painting quickly gained worldwide attention, not just because of its beauty but because people were amazed that such a young girl had painted something so powerful.
However, the journey didn’t end there. Several years after creating the painting, it was stolen. For sixteen years, “Prince of Peace” was lost, sold without her family’s knowledge, and tied up in legal battles over its ownership. Akiane often spoke about how much she missed the painting, knowing how much peace it brought to others who saw it.
Finally, after years of waiting and fighting for it, Akiane was able to get her painting back. The legal battles were over, and the artwork was returned to her. Akiane decided to sell it to a private collector who promised to display it for the public. Today, “Prince of Peace” is shown at the Belóved Gallery in Marble Falls, Texas, allowing visitors to experience its beauty once again.
For Akiane, seeing the painting back on display was a moment of closure. “It still feels unreal,” she said. “The journey this painting has been on is almost unbelievable—but it taught me about the power of love and faith. Love is incredibly strong.”
Since then, Akiane has continued to paint and inspire others. Her works often reflect her spiritual experiences, with themes of heaven, love, and humanity. She has also written poetry and books, sharing her journey and encouraging others to follow their own inner inspiration. Beyond her art, she uses her resources to help children in need and support charitable causes around the world.
The return of “Prince of Peace” wasn’t just about recovering a lost painting—it was about rekindling a story of faith, love, and the incredible power of art. Akiane’s journey from a young girl with visions to a world-renowned artist serves as a reminder that listening to our inner voice and trusting in something bigger can lead to beautiful and extraordinary things.
