Do we ever think about the saying “what goes around, comes around”? Sometimes we do things without realizing how they affect others. But life has a way of teaching us lessons about kindness and empathy.
One man made the difficult decision to move his mother into a nursing home after his father passed away. He couldn’t care for her alone anymore. She didn’t like living there and he only visited occasionally.

Then, one day, he got a call that his mother was very ill. He rushed to the nursing home to be with her. When he reached her room, she looked at him with a serious expression.
She had a few requests. She wanted the fans in her room replaced because they made her feel suffocated. And she asked for a new refrigerator because sometimes the food went bad and she went hungry.
Her requests caught him off guard. He thought she didn’t know how sick she was. He asked her why she hadn’t told him about these problems before. But it was too late now.

“I know I’m dying, but I also think about your future. Your children might not want you around either. They might send you away. You get back what you give,” his mother said, looking into his eyes.
These words broke his heart. He realized he had made a mistake by leaving his mother in the nursing home against her wishes.
It’s our responsibility to ensure our parents live their later years happily. We should never forget this.
