In a tragic plane crash, seven members of the cherished Nelons gospel music family lost their lives. Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber, and son-in-law Nathan Kistler were among those who tragically passed. Family assistant Melanie Hodges, along with the pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa, were also on board and did not survive.

Autumn Nelon Streetman, the only family member to survive, shared a moving message, expressing her deep sorrow and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has offered prayers and support. “I’m overwhelmed with grief,” she said, “but your love is helping us through this unimaginable time.” Her words resonated with so many who are mourning alongside her.

The family was flying to Alaska for the Gaither Homecoming Cruise when the plane went down in Wyoming. Witnesses described the terrifying moment they saw the plane fall from the sky in flames. Emergency responders arrived quickly but were unable to save anyone on board, except for Autumn.

The Nelons weren’t just another gospel music family—they were legends in the genre. In 2016, they were honored with an induction into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame, solidifying their place in music history. Songs like “I Shall Not Be Moved,” “Come Morning,” and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown” have been beloved by fans for years and will continue to be part of their incredible legacy.

Autumn shared her “grief and gratitude for the prayers and support” as the family and the gospel community grapple with this tremendous loss. Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what caused the crash, hoping to bring some answers to this heartbreaking situation.
