Nine-year-old William Gierke from Wisconsin was very proud of his pink T-shirt. But one day, he came home from school in tears, deeply saddened. His classmates had teased him, calling him a “sissy” just because his T-shirt was pink.
William wore the pink T-shirt to show support for cancer patients. The shirt had the words “Tough Guys Wear Pink” and was sold to raise money for a breast cancer charity. Unfortunately, instead of appreciating his good intentions, his peers bullied him.
William’s mom, Tomi, was heartbroken when she saw her son return from school trying to hold back tears. The hurtful comments made William reluctant to go back to school the next day. Tomi felt helpless, not knowing how to support her son.
Fortunately, William had a caring teacher who decided to stand up against the bullying. When William returned to school the next day, he was worried about facing more teasing.
But he noticed something heartwarming: his teacher, David Winter, was also wearing a pink shirt. Mr. Winter had seen the bullying William faced and wanted to show his support.
Mr. Winter’s simple act of wearing a pink shirt sent a powerful message: teasing someone for their clothes is never okay. William felt much better. “I now feel at ease, and I no longer let it affect me,” he said after seeing his teacher’s support.
Bullying a child over their clothing should never happen. We commend this teacher for standing up for his student. Please show your support for Mr. Winter’s actions by liking and sharing this story!

It’s great the teacher wore a pink shirt to school. Also the teacher should have explained to the class what wearing a pink shirt means. I’m sure some students in the school and class have had someone who has had to deal with Cancer.
Bullying is never ok no matter the reason. Thank goodness he has a very good teacher. I like a man in a pink shirt.
