The FOX5 Surprise Squad decided to make a young boy’s prom the best night of his life after hearing his touching story. Daniel Rivas, a 17-year-old with Down syndrome, had been turned down by a girl he invited to homecoming.
Daniel thought he’d have to go to the prom alone. But then, something amazing happened.
Kylie Fronius stepped up and asked him to be her date. Kylie is a beautiful girl with a big heart who sees Daniel not as someone with a disability but as a normal person who just learns differently. Her perspective makes her truly special.
Daniel’s mother, Tonya, was deeply moved by Kylie’s kind gesture. “What Kylie did for my son was incredible,” she said. Tonya was grateful that someone out there saw her son’s true potential.
With the full story in hand, the Fox5 Surprise Squad started planning surprises for Daniel and Kylie. They wanted to make this night unforgettable for the teens because they truly deserved it.
Monika Jackson from the Surprise Squad met with Daniel and Kylie, sharing how their story had touched many hearts. Their first big surprise was a luxurious Rolls Royce to take them to the dance in style.
Before heading to the dance, they went to Bistro 57 for a fantastic meal. Tonya had passed by this restaurant many times but never had the chance or money to eat there.
When they arrived at the dance, they were stunned to see a red carpet rolled out for them. Their smiles showed how excited they were, feeling like celebrities on this special night.
But the surprises weren’t over. The crowd cheered as Daniel and Kylie learned they’d both won trips to Disneyland.
The biggest surprise, though, was yet to come. Since Fox posted the story on YouTube, it’s been watched by over 4.8 million people.
