Right after the U.S. Supreme Court made its shocking decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Green Day’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong took a powerful stand. During a concert in London, he made an unexpected announcement—he was planning to give up his U.S. citizenship.
The ruling from the court had come in the middle of his performance, and Armstrong couldn’t hide his anger. He stopped the show to share his feelings with the crowd, outraged at how the U.S. had failed to protect women’s rights.
Armstrong’s words were fiery and full of frustration. He called the state of the world “stupid” and took aim at his home country, describing the U.S. as a “miserable” place. The disappointment in his voice was clear as he hinted that once the band’s European tour ended, he didn’t want to go back to America. Despite his harsh words, the London audience responded with loud applause, supporting his stance.
Armstrong let the cheers grow louder before he spoke again. “I’m not joking,” he told the crowd. He wanted them to know he meant it—he was serious about renouncing his U.S. citizenship. Then, he surprised the crowd even more by suggesting he might move to the U.K., telling them, “You’re going to see a lot more of me in the coming days.”
The following day, Armstrong returned to the stage in London and once again made his feelings clear. “F*** the Supreme Court and America!” he shouted. The crowd erupted in cheers, and right after, Green Day launched into their famous song “American Idiot.” It was the perfect song for the moment, as it’s all about rebelling against the system.
But Armstrong wasn’t the only artist reacting to the controversial Supreme Court decision, which pushed the responsibility for women’s reproductive rights to individual states. Many states, especially conservative ones, were already moving to limit women’s access to abortions, cutting off vital healthcare services.
Billie Eilish, another big voice in the music world, also shared her frustration during a performance in July 2022. “Today is a really, really dark day for women in the U.S.,” she told the crowd, struggling to keep her emotions in check. “I can’t even think about it any longer,” she admitted.
Eilish then dedicated her song “Your Power” to the Supreme Court justices who were responsible for the ruling. “This song is about power and remembering not to abuse it,” she said, making it clear where she stood on the issue.

Fuck Billie Joe Armstrong! If he can’t see the truth for what it is and is accepting of what the liberal media tells you as Gospel, then he doesn’t deserve the freedoms he enjoys in this country/. Good bye to bad rubbish!
