Cher is ready to leave the U.S. for good if Donald Trump wins the presidency again in 2024. In a recent interview with The Guardian, she shared her strong feelings about the situation.
“I almost got an ulcer the last time,” Cher said passionately. “If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave [the country].”
During Trump’s time in office, he rolled back protections that kept LGBTQ people safe from discrimination. Cher spoke out against this, especially when it comes to trans rights and the alarming number of anti-LGBTQ bills being introduced.
“It’s something like 500 bills they’re trying to pass,” Cher explained. “I was with two trans girls the other night – and of course my own child [Chaz is trans]. I was saying, ‘We’ve got to stand together.’ I don’t know what their eventual plan is for trans people. I don’t put anything past them.”

This isn’t the first time Cher has expressed her thoughts about Trump. When he became president in 2020, she said, “I hate to even call him a president because all he does is watch TV.”
Cher also believes that if Trump loses, he could react in a dramatic way. “If Trump can’t be in the White House, he’s going to burn it down,” she warned. “He’s the most vindictive person I’ve ever witnessed. I think he’s fighting so hard because he’s going to be prosecuted when he gets out of the White House.”
With her fierce words, Cher shows she’s determined to stand up for what she believes in and support the rights of those who need it most.
