Almost everyone has a few regrets—a choice, a word, or an action we’d change if we could. But imagine if your regrets were visible, etched across your skin for everyone to see. For Ethan “ModBoy” Bramble, an Australian known for his passion for extreme body modifications, these regrets are impossible to hide.
Ethan’s love for body art and modification has led him to cover himself in more than 200 tattoos. Tattoos are common enough today, and plenty of people choose quirky designs to express themselves. But what Ethan has done goes far beyond what most people would consider, and he’s become known for taking his body art to a truly unique level.
Ethan’s transformation began incredibly early. When he was just 11, he started his journey into body modification by stretching his earlobes—a process that involves gradually increasing the size of the piercing to wear larger jewelry.
As he grew older, he pushed the boundaries further and further, undergoing procedures that most people wouldn’t dream of, including splitting his tongue and even having his belly button removed.
Yet, the tattoos are what really stand out. Ethan’s body is a full canvas, completely covered with ink. In a recent interview, he shared that he’s spent around $60,000 AUD, which is roughly $39,000 USD, on his tattoos alone. It’s been a big commitment in both time and money.
But now, after years of dedication to his look, Ethan’s starting to feel differently. In an interview with LadBibleTV’s No Filter series, he admitted, “I guess you could say I regret some tattoos.” He paused, then added, “But not just regret. There’s a difference between regret and wanting to be seen in another way.”
One of the main reasons for his change of heart is his daughter. Ethan’s concerned about the way people might react to his appearance, especially when he’s around her. “The face is a big thing that can lead to so many—for some people, not everyone—but it can lead to a lot of problems for yourself,” he explained, looking thoughtful. “I probably wouldn’t want my daughter to deal with that until she’s older.”
He added, “I wish I hadn’t gone as crazy as I did on my face.”
To take control of his appearance again, Ethan has begun undergoing laser surgery to remove some of his tattoos, especially on his face. This process hasn’t been easy. “I’ve been getting laser [surgery] for around 12 months now,” he shared. “We do it in sections, but I’ve probably gone over the whole thing six or seven times.”
For Ethan, these sessions are more than just physical adjustments—they’re also an effort to calm his mind. “I started getting it done because of the anxiety I was feeling,” he explained. “Mental stuff can be hard to pinpoint, but I think a lot of it came from having a face full of tattoos.”
Even though he’s at peace with who he is, he’s ready to make some changes. “I’m happy with the way I look now, but I’m also happy with the thought that in the next two years, my face tattoos will fade,” he said, imagining a fresh start. “I’m just clearing the canvas.”
