After an amazing 50 years of touring, the legendary singer Elton John has officially retired from the road.
At his final concert at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena, Elton John expressed his heartfelt thanks to his dedicated fans for their unwavering support throughout his remarkable career.
“I can’t believe it’s been 52 years of pure joy,” the 76-year-old singer said as the moved audience applauded him. During emotional performances of his hits “Your Song” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” Elton John acknowledged how important his fans have been to his career.
“If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be here today,” he remarked. “Your constant support has meant the world to me—from buying CDs and concert tickets to just being there.”
Elton John also took to social media to thank his fans after the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. In a statement released after the concert, he recognized the critical role they played in his career and expressed gratitude for their steadfast dedication.
“You’ve supported me the entire time,” he said. “Over the years, your love and support have been my guiding light, and they will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Chris Martin, the lead vocalist of Coldplay, who was performing concurrently in Sweden, gave a touching tribute to Elton John at the farewell event. Martin acknowledged his respect and gratitude for all the bands and musicians that John has inspired and supported during his remarkable career. Martin said, “We just adore you so much. Happy retirement, man. You’ll be sorely missed.”
Before the grand finale, Elton John shared his thoughts on Instagram about the incredible journey of his final tour. “We’ve come to the end of this incredible journey, which has been this tour,” he wrote.
“This is the big showdown tonight.”
