Millions of people were warned to get ready for Hurricane Milton yesterday. But the people weren’t the only ones who had to make plans. The animals living at the zoo had to be prepared too. Luckily, the animals at St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park didn’t have to face the storm by themselves. Their caregivers were there to keep them safe.
To keep the animals safe from the flooding, many were moved indoors for the storm. But the alligators were just fine outside. One of the zoo employees even recorded a fascinating video during the storm. With the rain falling heavily, the alligators roaring, and large birds flying in the distance, the man couldn’t help but think, “I’m getting Jurassic Park vibes!”
The video drew a lot of funny comments, too. One person wrote, “In case you can’t check your Waffle House index, please listen for the gator warning system.” Another added, “Gators and rain. That’s Floridian ASMR.”
So, why were the alligators making so much noise? There’s a good reason for it! You can watch the video to learn more about what the alligators were up to during the storm.

Before the storm made landfall, Hurricane Milton was a Category 5 hurricane. While it caused some damage, the worst didn’t happen. The good news is that the zoo staff reported that all the animals, including the alligators, were doing just fine after the storm.
