A family from New Jersey is facing an unimaginable tragedy after their 6-year-old daughter, Lucy Morgan, passed away in a heartbreaking accident during a vacation.
It happened while Lucy was watching her family play badminton. Suddenly, a racket broke and a piece of metal from it struck Lucy in the head, causing a severe brain injury.
Lucy’s father, Pastor Jesse Morgan, shared the devastating details on his blog. He described how a normal vacation day in Limerick, Maine turned into a nightmare on June 1. Lucy was rushed to the hospital and then airlifted to Maine Medical Center, but the damage was already severe.
“In the PICU we are being told that there is a very slim chance she recovers,” Jesse wrote on his blog, describing the desperate attempts to save Lucy.
Just a month before the accident, Lucy had expressed a desire to be close to God. She prayed with her mother, asking for forgiveness and believing in Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Despite the doctors’ efforts, Lucy’s condition worsened, and the family faced the heartbreaking reality that she wouldn’t survive. On June 5, Lucy peacefully passed away.
“In the wake of this tragedy, the family has been surrounded by love and support,” Jesse’s former professor, Dan Cruver, wrote on Facebook, praising Jesse’s strength during this difficult time.
To assist the family, loved ones created a GoFundMe page that quickly exceeded its goal, providing financial support for their immediate needs and future expenses.
“This page serves as a place to provide them extravagant financial support – to help pay for meals while they are away from home, lodging for family, medical costs … whatever they need,” organizer Jill Anthony shared.
As the Morgan family grieves and adjusts to life without Lucy, their community continues to offer prayers and condolences.
Our hearts go out to the Morgan family during this incredibly sad time.
