Earlier this year, Cheryl McCain, a grandmother at 63, and her 26-year-old husband Quran, excitedly shared their plans to start a family, despite the age gap that drew attention online.
Their love story began when Quran, 23 at the time, confessed his feelings for Cheryl after spending weeks together. They tied the knot in September 2021 and started sharing their journey on joint social media accounts, which attracted both support and criticism.
In a twist, they announced in May that they had found a surrogate and were expecting their first child together, sparking varied reactions on TikTok.
Cheryl expressed her joy, saying, “Finding out we were going to have a baby was amazing. Starting our own family makes me happier than ever. We will love this baby unconditionally.”
Quran, emotional about becoming a father for the first time, shared, “When I found out, I cried tears of joy. This child means everything to me, just like marrying Cheryl did.”
However, in a recent emotional video, Quran revealed he had been struggling deeply. “For the last two weeks, it’s been hell. I woke up on Father’s Day to a text saying she didn’t want to continue. I’m stressed and exhausted. Life’s been kicking my butt.”

He also shared that the surrogate’s mother accused them of seeking attention. In a follow-up video, they disclosed that the surrogate planned to keep the baby, leaving them uncertain about the future.
“We’ll have to postpone the gender reveal,” Quran explained. “But we’re still on this journey together. We believe God will bless us with a healthy baby.”
Surrogacy laws in the US vary by state, as explained by the American Surrogacy website, highlighting the complexity they face.
Despite the challenges, Cheryl and Quran remain hopeful as they navigate this emotional journey toward parenthood, determined to overcome the obstacles in their path.
