John Travolta rocketed to international fame with the success of films like Saturday Night Fever (1977) and Grease (1978).
Born in 1954 in New Jersey, John was the youngest of six children. Even as a child, he knew he wanted to be an actor. So, he took a bold step: he dropped out of high school to focus on his acting career. Now, looking back, John can say it was the best decision he ever made.
Over the years, John has starred in many memorable movies. Some of his most notable roles include Gotti (2018), Two of a Kind (1983), Pulp Fiction (1994), Get Shorty (1995)—for which he won a Golden Globe—Broken Arrow (1996), and Wild Hogs (2007).
In 1991, John married actress Kelly Preston. Their love story had an interesting beginning. When they first met, Kelly was married to someone else. But by 2018, Kelly admitted she wasn’t happy in that marriage, saying, “It wasn’t the ideal match for me.”
Tragically, Kelly passed away from breast cancer in July 2020, after nearly three decades of marriage to John.
The couple had three children: Jett, born on April 13, 1992; Ella Bleu, born in 2000; and Benjamin, born in 2010. Sadly, Jett passed away in 2009 due to seizures related to autism. John was heartbroken and didn’t know how to cope with the loss.
He realized he needed to get healthy to be there for his other two children.
Ella followed in her parents’ footsteps and became an actress. She feels lucky to have had parents who gave her great advice and support in her career. “I’ve been interested in this profession since I was a young child,” she shared.
After Kelly’s death, Ella wrote touching notes to her mother, expressing her love and gratitude. She called her mom the best person she had ever met and thanked her for all her support.
Ella also shares a close bond with her father. She says, “My dad is the most important person in my life.” John often expresses his pride in his daughter on social media, sharing their special moments together.
In a heartfelt post, John once shared a video of him and Ella dancing to honor Kelly. He mentioned, “One of Kelly’s favorite activities was dancing with me.” Their father-daughter bond is strong, and we hope it continues to grow because, as John knows well, family is the most important thing in life.
