Lisa Lee, a 25-year-old woman, shared a heartbreaking story with Metro. One night, as she slept next to her husband, Lewis Little, she thought she heard him snoring. Trying to get some peace, she gave him a gentle shove.
“I nudged him out of bed to stop what I believed was snoring. However, I discovered something was wrong when I noticed the sheet was damp. He couldn’t breathe, so I turned on the light and saw his injured face,” Lisa recalled.
“I called the ambulance, but it felt like a lifetime had passed until it arrived.”
When the ambulance finally arrived, the doctors delivered devastating news. They told the distraught Lisa that her husband had been deceased for a few hours. She was in disbelief, convinced she had heard him snoring just moments before.
That’s when they explained that the sound she thought was snoring was actually air escaping his body and brushing against his vocal cords.
Lisa knew that her husband had Brugada syndrome, a rare cardiac illness affecting the heart’s rhythm and often inherited. Despite its potentially fatal nature, doctors had assured Lewis that his life was not in immediate danger and that he could live a long life. Tragically, just one year after his diagnosis, Lewis passed away.
“We sincerely apologize for this loss. I hope he finds peace,” Lisa expressed, her voice heavy with emotion.
This heartbreaking experience serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the unpredictable nature of certain medical conditions.
