Tragedy at Sea: The Drowning of Two Influencers
In a shocking and sad turn of events, two Brazilian influencers, Aline Tamara Moreira de Amorim, 37, and Beatriz Tavares da Silva Faria, 27, tragically drowned during a yacht party off the beautiful coast of Brazil. It was supposed to be a day of fun and laughter under the sun, but it ended with heartbreak.
What makes this situation even more chilling is that it happened near a place known as “Devil’s Throat.” It sounds like a scene pulled right from a scary movie, but this was very real and very tragic.
Reports came to light that Aline and Beatriz had chosen not to wear life jackets. They believed that the life jackets would ruin their perfect tan and spoil the selfies they wanted to take during their luxury yacht party.
Police commissioner Marcos Alexandre Alfino stated, “Some didn’t want to put them on because they were taking selfies.” It’s shocking how the desire for the perfect photo can lead to such dangerous decisions!
On that fateful day, September 29, the yacht, which was designed for just five passengers, was carrying six people, which created overcrowding. Despite the warning signs, the group was excited and ready to cruise along the gorgeous coastline, soaking up the sun and sharing laughs.
However, tragedy struck when a large wave hit the overloaded vessel. Due to the extra weight, the boat struggled to stay afloat. The captain, under immense pressure to keep everyone happy and on board, attempted to save all six influencers as the yacht began to sink rapidly.
In the chaos of the moment, Beatriz was the first to be discovered. Brazil’s Maritime Firefighters found her body drifting in the sea.
Aline’s body was recovered days later along Itaquitanduva Beach, bringing a haunting silence over the joyful spirit of the yacht party. It felt unreal for their friends and family—how could a day of fun turn so deadly?
Survivors of this tragic incident shared their terrifying experiences. Vanessa Audrey da Silva, one of the lucky few who managed to secure a life jacket, remembered the panic vividly.
She clung to rocks in the frigid waters and described the ordeal: “There was a moment in the water when no one could see anyone. I was fighting for life.” Her words echoed the desperation of the moment.
Another survivor, Camila Alves de Carvalho, struggled against the relentless waves while holding onto her life jacket. She said, “We almost died. We didn’t know how to swim,” highlighting the seriousness of the situation. She was injured and swallowed a lot of water, making the experience all the more terrifying.
In total, the five survivors included Vanessa and Camila, along with three others: Daniel Goncalves Ferreira, Gabriela Santos Lima, and Natan Cardoso Soares da Silva. Together, they had gathered for what they thought would be an unforgettable luxury yacht party, filled with joy, laughter, and new memories.
However, the day took a downturn when they split into two groups to return to shore, and the overloaded boat was suddenly hit by that devastating wave.
Now, the tragic deaths of Aline and Beatriz have sparked a formal investigation into what went wrong and whether any negligence or recklessness played a part in this disaster. Commissioner Alfino explained, “All this is being determined very calmly to conclude if the fatalities were based on recklessness or negligence.”
Authorities are closely examining safety violations since the yacht’s maximum capacity was ignored, and two people—especially Aline, who couldn’t swim—didn’t wear life jackets.
Aline, a beloved mother of one, had shared joyful photos on social media, showing herself posing on the yacht with her friends just before the tragedy struck. Her last posts, filled with happiness and sunshine, now serve as a haunting reminder of how prioritizing social media image over safety can lead to devastating consequences.
