Chris and Amanda: The Truth That Changed Everything

Chris took a deep breath and looked up at his parents’ big fancy house. The lights inside glowed warmly, but his heart felt heavy.

“I just want to get this over with,” he muttered, staring at the front door.

Amanda, standing beside him, gently rubbed his arm. “They’re your parents, honey. Don’t you want them to accept me already? And come to our wedding?”

Chris sighed loudly. “Honestly, Amanda, I don’t even care anymore. If they can’t accept the woman I love, then maybe I don’t need them in my life.”

Amanda’s smile faltered for a second, but she stayed calm. “Please. I know they’ve been difficult, but they’re still your family. What about the future? What about our baby?” she added sweetly, still thinking it was a surprise.

Chris’s mouth twitched slightly. He tried hard to stay calm. “Yeah. I guess,” he mumbled through stiff lips.

Amanda clapped her hands softly, trying to lift the mood. “OK! Now cheer up. We’re in this together.”

The front door opened suddenly, and there stood Mrs. Castillo, Chris’s mother. Her fake smile barely reached her lips. “Hello, Amanda,” she said coolly, stepping aside so they could come in.

Chris rolled his eyes slightly behind Amanda’s back. No matter how much time passed, his parents still acted like Amanda had ruined their “perfect plans.”

The Perfect Life They Wanted

Chris came from the wealthy Castillo family. His parents always cared about status, reputation, and keeping up appearances. When Chris graduated college and started working, they introduced him to Ciara—the daughter of their friends, the Geoffreys. Ciara’s dad was on the board of a private clinic and highly respected in town.

She was beautiful, polite, and rich. The perfect match, according to his parents.

But Chris had changed. College had opened his eyes. He met all kinds of people and learned that what mattered most was kindness, not money. He didn’t want a girl who only talked about handbags and yachts.

Then one day, while leaving work, he bumped into Amanda in a parking lot. She worked at a nearby office and didn’t appreciate him flirting. But Chris didn’t give up. He liked her right away and kept asking her out until she said yes.

They started dating, and eventually, they fell in love.

First Dinner Disaster

The first time Amanda met his parents, things went downhill fast. They had dinner at a fancy restaurant, and the moment Amanda got up to use the restroom, Chris’s parents pounced.

“She’s an assistant, Chris,” his mother hissed. “Why not date Ciara? She adores you. This girl is not the one.”

Chris stared at them, shocked. “You two need to shut up,” he whispered fiercely. “Ciara is a spoiled little princess, and I want nothing to do with her.”

When Amanda returned, she immediately sensed the tension. Chris told her everything later. Amanda, always the optimist, said they just needed time. So she kept trying. She called his mother, invited her to dinners, and even included her in wedding plans.

But there was one thing Amanda hadn’t told them yet—they were already trying for a baby. She hoped it would be the joyful news that would finally melt their icy hearts.

Dinner from Hell

Chris sat at the dinner table now, barely tasting the food. He was distracted—his world had shifted completely. A few days earlier, he had received medical results that shocked him.

He was infertile.

Which meant… Amanda’s pregnancy couldn’t be real. Or worse—it was someone else’s.

Amanda, sitting beside him, looked cheerful. She thought tonight would be the night the family finally welcomed her.

“So, Amanda,” Mr. Castillo asked, putting down his fork. “How’s work?”

“Oh, it’s going great! My boss is planning a huge event, and I’m in charge of organizing it. It’s been fun,” Amanda said with a smile.

“That’s… fine. When are you going to quit?” Mr. Castillo added bluntly.

“Excuse me?” Amanda blinked.

“To become a housewife,” he explained casually.

“I’m not quitting my job,” Amanda said firmly, looking confused.

Chris jumped in. “She’s going to keep working, Dad.”

Mrs. Castillo spoke up in a syrupy voice. “Yes, Amanda is a modern woman after all.”

Amanda swallowed hard, still trying to keep things light. “Well… I guess it’ll depend on what happens in the future. Speaking of which—I have something to share.” She beamed. “I’m pregnant!”

The room went ice-cold.

Mrs. Castillo’s smile vanished. “He’s infertile!” she shouted, her face twisted with rage.

Chris’s body froze. He couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. His medical test said he couldn’t have kids… but Amanda was pregnant.

“YOU LYING TROLLOP!” Mrs. Castillo screamed. “YOU CHEATED ON MY SON! YOU TRIED TO BABY-TRAP HIM!”

“WHAT?!” Amanda cried. “Mrs. Castillo, that’s not true! Chris and I have been trying for months. This is his baby! What do you mean, infertile?! That’s impossible!”

Mr. Castillo stood, his face like stone. “Get out of our house. Now. Or we’ll call the police.”

Amanda turned to Chris. “Chris! Please! Say something!”

But Chris couldn’t move. He just stared at his plate, frozen.

Mrs. Castillo grabbed Amanda by the hair and dragged her toward the door. Amanda screamed, “CHRIS!”

But the door slammed shut behind her.

The Breakup

Chris packed up and moved out of their apartment. He left behind a note and his test results on the counter.

“I was concerned and got tested. I’m infertile. Completely. I hope you have a happy life, but it won’t be with me.”

Amanda stood in the kitchen, crying as she read the note. “That can’t be true,” she whispered. “I haven’t been with anyone else in years…”

She tried to call. She went to his parents’ house. They called the police on her.

“Fine! I’ll leave! But I’ll raise this baby myself! You’re the ones missing out!” she screamed before walking away, her heart in pieces.

She named the baby Paul. He looked exactly like Chris. Amanda worked hard, stayed strong, and did everything for her son.

“They don’t know what they’re missing,” she whispered while watching Paul sleep. “Let them rot in their country clubs. We’ll find our own happiness.”

Chris’s New Life

Chris’s life felt empty. He let his parents support him, and he tried to forget Amanda. But it wasn’t easy. Every day without her hurt.

Eventually, his parents set him up with Ciara again. Surprisingly, they got along, and Chris didn’t have the energy to fight anymore. They started dating, and soon, they were engaged.

Still, deep down, something didn’t feel right.

The Truth Slips Out

One afternoon, he ran into Amanda on the street. Literally.

“Oh,” she said, stepping back.

“Amanda…” Chris swallowed hard. “Hi.”

“Bye,” she replied, trying to walk past.

“Wait!” He reached out and grabbed her hand, accidentally knocking her phone to the ground. When he picked it up, the screen lit up with a photo of a baby boy—his baby boy.

“Give me that,” Amanda snapped. “You don’t deserve to look at him.”

“Him?” Chris whispered.

“Yes. My son. Mine. Alone.”

Chris was shaken. Her anger, her pain, the baby’s blue eyes… He couldn’t stop thinking about it.

A few days later, while sitting with Ciara and her mother during wedding planning, Mrs. Geoffrey said something strange.

“Oh, the babies you two will have—so adorable!”

Chris frowned. “Babies? But I’m infertile. Your husband’s clinic tested me.”

Mrs. Geoffrey laughed nervously. “Oh, sweetie… that was just our little plan.”

Chris’s blood ran cold. “Plan?”

She stammered. “I mean—I—I don’t—”

Ciara walked in, smiling. “You know?”

Chris stood. “Yes. And I hope you both rot in hell.”

The Apology

He called his mother during the drive to Amanda’s place. “Tell me the truth,” he demanded.

And she told him everything.

It had all been fake. They wanted to break him and Amanda apart. They paid off the lab technician to give false results. They thought Amanda would leave him once she found out. But when she announced the pregnancy, they used it as an excuse to kick her out.

He hung up. “You’ll never see me again,” he said.

He went to Amanda’s apartment, still had a key, and walked inside. Everything was the same… except for one room. The nursery. It was beautiful. Blue walls. Cloud paintings. Tiny shoes.

Chris sat on the bed and finally cried.

The Reunion

Amanda came home and screamed when she saw him.

“Chris! What the hell?! Get out! I’ll call the police!”

“It’s me,” he said, standing up.

She was shocked to see him crying. “Why are you here?”

“We need to talk…”

He told her everything. The lies. The fake results. The plan to break them apart.

Amanda was quiet for a long time. “I guess I’m not surprised,” she said softly. “But it still hurts.”

“I should’ve believed you. I was scared. I didn’t know what to do. But I’m sorry. I really am.”

Amanda nodded slowly. “You were an idiot.”

Chris laughed, wiping his face. “I know.”

“Is there any way I can fix this?”

She sighed. “I don’t know. It’s been a hard year. But… life’s too short for grudges.”

Chris reached out. “Can I meet him? My son?”

Amanda smiled, though her eyes were wet. “First, you meet Paul. Then… maybe we sue Mr. Geoffrey.”

Chris laughed and cried again. She was still the same Amanda. Bright. Brave. Full of heart.

And he wasn’t going to lose her again.
