David Beckham sued Mark Wahlberg’s fitness company for breach of contract. Now, the legal battle has been settled.
David Beckham, 49, and Mark Wahlberg, 53, reached an agreement before their case went to trial. In April, it was revealed that the former soccer star, through his company DB Ventures Ltd., had filed a lawsuit against the actor and his fitness business F45. The dispute involved millions of dollars, which Beckham claimed he was cheated out of due to a breach of contract. According to a statement from the company provided to “People” magazine, the legal issue has now been resolved.
F45 Training announced that they “reached an agreement to settle a prior lawsuit brought by DB Ventures Limited regarding an ambassador agreement for David Beckham.” The athlete will remain an investor in the fitness company. “We are pleased to have made a mutual business decision,” emphasized Tom Dowd, the CEO of F45 Training.
F45 Accused of Cheating and Exploiting David Beckham
According to court documents obtained by “People,” Beckham filed the lawsuit in October 2022. He sought a total of $18.8 million for an alleged breach of contract related to an endorsement deal with F45, which was established in 2020.
The lawsuit claimed that Beckham did not receive adequate compensation for his partnership with Wahlberg’s company. He was promised stock packages as part of the fitness deal, which were not initially transferred to him. The alleged intentional delay in transferring the stocks, combined with falling share prices, led to a multimillion-dollar loss. Beckham’s lawyers also argued that the company had profited from its association with Beckham, entitling him to further profit participation.
Before the settlement was reached on Thursday (June 6), the case was scheduled to go to trial in January 2025.
