Mrs. Parks stood in front of her class and asked, “Can anyone tell me which human body part increases to ten times its size when stimulated?”

The classroom was silent. No one raised a hand. So, Mrs. Parks decided to point at a student at random.

Little Mary sprang to her feet, her arms crossed tightly, her cheeks flushing. “You shouldn’t be asking sixth graders dirty questions like that!” she exclaimed. “I’m going to tell my parents, and they will go to the principal, and then he’ll fire you!”

Mrs. Parks calmly ignored Mary’s outburst and repeated the question, “Let’s try that again. Which body part increases to ten times its size when stimulated?”

Mary’s eyes widened in shock. She pointed at her teacher and shouted, “You’re gonna get in big trouble!”

But Mrs. Parks continued to ignore her, asking the class, “Anyone?”

Finally, Billy, looking nervous as he scanned the room, stood up. “The body part that increases ten times its size when stimulated is the pupil of the eye.”

“Very good, Billy!” Mrs. Parks said, beaming at him.

Then she turned her attention to Mary and said, “As for you, young lady, I have three things to say: One, you have a dirty mind. Two, you didn’t read your homework. And three, one day you are going to be very, very disappointed.”

The class burst into laughter, and Little Mary’s face turned bright red. It was a hilarious moment that she would remember for a long time!
