Here we go again: Madonna is once again being sued by a fan. This time, it involves tardiness, pornography, and an air conditioner that caused physical discomfort.
Madonna’s (65) “The Celebration Tour” was a huge success – but now she faces another legal issue. A concertgoer from her March 7, 2024, show in Los Angeles is reportedly suing the Queen of Pop. According to “The Blast,” the man cites six counts in his lawsuit against Madonna and the concert organizers. The claims include breach of written contract, negligent misrepresentation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false advertising, negligent infliction of emotional distress, and unfair competition.
Madonna Sued by a Fan
The angry fan reportedly complained about being exposed to pornographic content without warning. He claimed that topless dancers simulating sexual acts were seen on stage. The man alleged that he felt like he was on the set of a porn film.
Due to the Air Conditioning: Madonna Asked Concertgoers to Undress
The man reportedly felt not only psychologically uncomfortable due to the provocative show but also physically uncomfortable. The air conditioning in the venue was allegedly turned up beyond a tolerable level. He and other fans reportedly felt ill due to the heat. In response to audience complaints, Madonna allegedly told the concertgoers to undress.
Plaintiff Criticizes Madonna’s “Unabashed Disrespect”
Additionally, the man claimed a breach of contract due to Madonna’s lateness. Instead of starting the show at 8:30 PM as advertised, it reportedly began at 10 PM. When the singer finally appeared, she allegedly only lip-synced instead of singing live. “Forcing consumers to wait for hours in hot, uncomfortable arenas and exposing them to pornography without warning is a testament to Madonna’s unabashed disrespect for her fans,” the lawsuit concludes.
Her Tardiness Has Sparked Controversy Before
This man is not the first concertgoer to sue Madonna over her tardiness during the “Celebration Tour.” On December 13, 2023, the superstar reportedly took the stage at 10:30 PM, two hours after the scheduled start time. Two fans sued Madonna, claiming they had difficulty getting home after the late show ended.
The organizers defended themselves by arguing that no specific start time for Madonna’s performance was promised. “No reasonable concertgoer – and certainly no Madonna fan – would expect the headliner of a major arena concert to take the stage at the advertised time,” they stated. Additionally, they claimed the delay was due to technical reasons.
Legal Troubles Have Little Impact on Her Success
During her “Madame X” tour in 2019, a fan also sued the notoriously tardy diva but later withdrew the lawsuit. Despite the legal troubles, Madonna’s “Celebration Tour” ended with a record: she became the first woman to complete six tours each grossing over $100 million.
