Simon Marks, 37 years old, had been living in his home for a few years, never realizing there was a secret hidden beneath it. One day, he made a discovery that would change everything.

It all started when Simon was parking his car. As he pulled into his driveway, the wheels suddenly got stuck. He then heard a strange cracking sound coming from the ground.

Frustrated, Simon groaned, “Well, this day couldn’t get any worse.”

Curious, he bent down to see what had happened. The stones in his driveway had cracked open, and the ground seemed to be sinking beneath them. As Simon brushed away the dirt, he uncovered something unexpected—a piece of metal buried underneath.

“What is this?” Simon thought, staring at the metal fragment. He grabbed it and tried to pull it out, but it wouldn’t move. Determined to find out what it was, Simon began searching around the area for more clues.

Unsure of what to do next, Simon decided to call his father for help. When his dad arrived, the two of them worked together, digging through the tightly packed dirt. After a lot of effort, they finally uncovered an opening in the ground.

An old, rusty ladder led down into the darkness. “We have to see where this goes,” Simon said, both nervous and excited. They carefully climbed down into what looked like an underground room.

As soon as they reached the bottom, Simon’s father took one look around and said, “I know what this is. It’s an air raid shelter.”

Surprised, Simon quickly looked it up on his phone. “He was right,” Simon later recalled. “After searching on Google, we discovered there are many shelters like this in the area.”

The shelter in Simon’s garden was built during World War II. These shelters were designed to protect civilians from bombings, and they were often hidden underground in people’s homes.

“The previous owner of this house must have known it was here,” Simon said. “He probably filled it in when he built the garden.”

Simon and his father explored the shelter further, finding that part of it had been sealed off with bricks. “I’m ninety percent sure we won’t find any more rooms,” Simon said. “They probably bricked it up when they built the house’s foundation. If that’s the case, we’ll just have to leave it.”

Despite not being able to explore beyond the brick wall, Simon’s discovery was still incredible. He filmed everything as they uncovered the shelter, and before long, his story went viral online.

For Simon and his father, the shelter was more than just an old structure—it was a piece of history. They both felt it was important to preserve it. “Even though that time is long gone,” Simon said, “we shouldn’t forget it. This shelter gives us a glimpse into the past, into what people had to go through.”

Now, Simon and his dad plan to restore the air raid shelter, making sure it stays as a reminder of a different time in history. What started as a frustrating day with a stuck car ended up revealing a forgotten piece of the past that Simon knew was worth saving.
