Savannah Combs’ journey into motherhood took an unexpected and rare turn when she found out she was pregnant with twins. But these weren’t just any twins—they were identical twins, and both had Down syndrome, a condition that happens in only a few out of every 1,000 births.

But Savannah saw her daughters, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, as precious gems.

She recalled being advised to consider ending the pregnancy due to the challenges her twins might face. Despite these pressures, Savannah chose to give her daughters every chance to thrive.
“Every prenatal appointment they were alive was a blessing to me,” Savannah explained, emphasizing the joy and gratitude she felt with each milestone in her pregnancy.
Kennadi Rue and Mckenli were born prematurely on May 12, 2021, arriving two months before their due date. As “mono di twins,” they shared the same placenta while having separate sacs, a rare occurrence that made their birth even more special.
Savannah described her daughters as resilient and full of spirit, just like any other children. She believes in their ability to achieve milestones and grow, despite any challenges they might face.
“They have feelings. They have a beating heart. They know how to talk. They know how to do things you do. They will get there,” Savannah affirmed, expressing her faith in her daughters’ abilities.

Despite the love and positivity Savannah shares, there have been hurtful comments from strangers online. Some criticized her decision to keep her babies, prompting Savannah to respond with grace and conviction.
In the face of adversity, Savannah remains focused on raising her daughters with love and support, celebrating every step of their development and sharing their journey with others.
“I’m going to let them know that they’re just like us and they’re going to get there as long as they put their minds to it,” Savannah said, highlighting her determination to empower her daughters.
