Tiffany Floyd and her four-year-old daughter stopped at a Burger King drive-thru near their home in Western New York for a quick meal. What was supposed to be a simple treat turned into a nightmare when her daughter complained about the “ketchup” on her lunch.
In a TikTok video, Floyd recounted, “I went to Burger King by my house today.” She described how her daughter said, “Mom, I don’t want ketchup,” just after receiving her kid’s meal.
Floyd thought the order was wrong and took the bag back. “And I see blood everywhere when I look in her bag,” she said.

Floyd told People that her daughter didn’t notice the “ketchup” until she had eaten a few French fries and taken a bite of her cheeseburger. Floyd initially thought it was ketchup too, but soon realized it was blood.
She immediately called the fast food restaurant to speak with the manager, who revealed that an employee had recently cut their hand before bagging her food.
“He was so nonchalant at this point and I was livid,” Floyd said of the manager, who offered a refund if she returned to the store.
After handing her daughter the bag of food, she heard, “Mom, I don’t want ketchup.”
Floyd also filed a report with her local health agency after realizing there wasn’t much else she could do. Burger King informed People that they had closed the Gettzville restaurant, where the incident occurred, for a few days for thorough cleaning and staff retraining.
Despite the clean-up and retraining, Floyd is still “distraught” over the incident. Her daughter now has to get monthly blood tests and refuses to eat, fearing there might be blood in her food.
Floyd hopes her TikTok video, which has received over six million views, serves as a PSA for anyone who might grab food from a fast food bag without looking, especially those who visited the Gettzville location on July 27.
“Whenever you get food from a drive-thru, you just open the bag and dig in without even looking,” Floyd said. “All I ask is that everyone else check their food before eating.”
“I never realized that before taking a bite out of my food, I should be examining it a little more closely,” she added.
