Nicole Kidman, 56, is a talented actress who recently made headlines with her bold outfit choice for the Prime Video premiere of her series Expats. Kidman, who first gained worldwide fame in Days of Thunder, wore a striking black dress by Atelier Versace.
The dress hugged her figure, revealed plenty of skin on both sides, and featured a daring backless design with a high slit.
To complete her look, Kidman wore her hair loose, had rose-colored makeup, and added sparkling silver jewelry from Roberto Coin.
When photos of Kidman in the Versace dress began circulating online, opinions were divided. Some people thought she looked stunning, while others disagreed.
One social media user criticized her appearance, commenting on a photo shared by designer Roberto Coin, “Not elegant at all. Quite disappointed with her choice. This is not the appropriate attire for someone her age.”
Another person said she didn’t look feminine, and someone else expressed concern, “OMG, she is too thin; I love this woman and wish her the best, [I] just worry about her 😍❤️.”
Amid the criticism, many praised Kidman’s wardrobe choice. Admirers were amazed by the gown, with comments like, “The gown is beautiful,” and, “Kidman’s beauty is only matched by the stupendous Versace dress.”
One fan even declared, “This is the best I[‘ve] ever seen in a long time.”
Despite the online buzz, Kidman has long been regarded as a fashion icon in the entertainment industry. She credits her grandmother and mother, Janelle, for inspiring her love of fashion.
“I grew up as a little girl with a grandmother that loved fashion and could sew, and my mother the same,” Kidman recalled to People in November of last year. “I observed them as they knit, crochet, and embroider.
And I believe that you come to enjoy that when you watch the members of your household do that as a child.”
Kidman also mentioned that she still likes to include her mother in the process of getting ready for events. The devoted wife and mother has often spoken about her lifelong love of fashion, telling the Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve always been drawn to fashion, mainly classic lines with a twist; but edginess is something I don’t shy away from.”
Reflecting on her early years in the US, Kidman feels fortunate to have worked in the fashion industry, especially since she was able to meet and befriend designers early on.
