In the 1960s, excitement around The Beatles was at its peak. They didn’t just make music; they changed it! Their influence on music, fashion, and even hairstyles was huge.
The Beatles were known for their sharp suits and unique mop-top haircuts. This signature look, with its side-swept fringe and textured style, became incredibly popular and is still linked to the band today.
Over the years, McCartney has experimented with different hairstyles. He’s tried shorter cuts and even had a beard and mustache, always keeping up with the trends of the time.
Hi everybody, I’d like to thank you all for the great birthday wishes you sent to me and the love that came with them. I once was 33, then I was 45, and now I’m 78 and spinning at 78 rpm!!! Keep rocking, many thanks and lotsa love Paul ❤️#FlashbackFriday pic.twitter.com/feAiW6vDcJ

In 1969, the same year he married Linda, he grew a thick beard that many people admired. This beard even became famous enough to have its own Instagram page called “the finest beard in rock n roll history.” How cool is that?
As styles changed, McCartney adapted his look, trying out various hair lengths and styles while maintaining his unique charm. However, not all of his attempts to stay trendy were successful.
According to the New York Daily News, when he was married to Heather Mills, he tried to dye his hair at home and ended up making a complete mess. “It was a disaster! I looked like a clown!” he joked. Mills had to call in professionals from a Manhattan salon to fix the mess.

Eventually, McCartney embraced his natural aging hair. In 2018, when he was 76, he appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, proudly showcasing his beautiful silver hair. After dyeing his hair brown for 30 years, he decided to flaunt his natural look. The Daily Mail pointed out that even though he had kept his hair dark for so long, he started to show some grey, especially around his sideburns.
After recording his 18th solo album, “McCartney III,” in 2020 during the Covid lockdown, his silver hair became a key part of his distinguished image.
In March 2024, McCartney was spotted enjoying the sunny beaches of St. Bart’s with his wife, Shevell. He looked relaxed in a long-sleeved black shirt and sunset-print shorts, with his hair flowing in the warm breeze. Shevell, 64, matched his vibe with black shorts and a colorful long-sleeved top.
Recently, McCartney shared a sweet post on social media to wish his father and his former bandmate, Ringo Starr, a happy birthday. Fans absolutely loved it, with one commenting, “You’re so cute!” and many others expressing their admiration for him.
