In Friday’s jaw-dropping episode of The Price is Right, the price was almost spot on.
Host Drew Carey was left in shock during the Showcase Showdown when a contestant placed a bid so close to the actual value of the prizes that Carey called it the “best Showcase bid in the history of the show.”
Patrice Masse, hailing from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, made it all the way to the Showcase Showdown. He placed a bid of $39,500 for a prize package that included a brand-new car and an exciting trip to Miami.
When it was time to reveal the actual value of the prize package, Carey could hardly believe it.
“So, let me tell ya…” he began, while Masse and the crowd waited with bated breath.
“Three thousand, eighty-one.”
Watch the crazy moment in the following video.
Masse’s bid was so close that he missed the true value by less than $1, making him the winner of both prize packages.
According to the current rules, the winner of both showcases is the contestant who comes within $250 of the actual value without going over.
Masse’s incredible guess earned him a place among the few Double Showcase Winners in the show’s history.
“Patrice, congratulations! What a fantastic victory. That will undoubtedly rank among the greatest victories in game show history,” Carey announced, still in awe.
