Prince William: Royal Shows His Connection to the People

Whether taking selfies, playing video games, or giving hugs: Prince William showed himself to be very approachable during a visit to a youth club.
Prince William, 42, reportedly spent the Easter holidays quietly with his family. Now, however, the British heir to the throne is back in the public eye — and is presenting himself as very down-to-earth. Photos from the London borough of Southwark show the 42-year-old being embraced by a woman while another royal fan takes a photo of them. In other candid shots from the royal appearance, William is seen in the midst of a crowd, apparently fulfilling numerous selfie requests.

Selfies and “Mario Kart” with Prince William

The reason for Prince William’s outing was a visit to the youth center Mentivity House. According to Hello! magazine, the father of three showed off his video gaming skills there. He reportedly competed against a group of local schoolchildren in Mario Kart — and was apparently quite successful.

Perhaps he practiced with his eldest son over Easter? Prince William once revealed that his two younger children, Prince Louis, 7, and Princess Charlotte, 9, are big movie fans, while Prince George, 11, has a fondness for video games.

Time Out for William and His Family in Norfolk

It seems William had the time for such activities recently. Unlike other senior royals around King Charles, 76, the heir to the throne, his wife Princess Kate, 43, and their three children did not attend the Easter service in Windsor this year. Instead, they chose to spend private time at their country home in Norfolk.

According to media reports, the five-member family was spotted attending a church service on the Sandringham estate alongside Kate’s parents, Carole, 70, and Michael Middleton, 75. After recovering from her cancer diagnosis, William’s wife is slowly returning to public life — and it’s possible that she was able to regain strength during their time in Norfolk.
