Princess Isabella was celebrated with not just two, but three parties for her special day—although only two were publicly known until now. A third event has now come to light.

Princess Isabella’s 18th birthday was not only celebrated on her actual birthday, April 21, 2025, but already a few days prior. The eldest daughter of King Frederik, 56, and Queen Mary, 53, enjoyed an event in Aarhus as well as a special performance organized for her at the Royal Theatre. However, as revealed on April 23, that was far from everything: according to media reports, the royal couple also hosted a private dinner the evening before Isabella’s birthday.

Frederik and Mary Hosted a Private Dinner for Princess Isabella

According to Billed Bladet, the royal family organized a dinner at Amalienborg Palace. Alongside many young guests—mostly friends of the princess—the royal family itself was, of course, in attendance, including Queen Margrethe, 85. She had traveled from Fredensborg Palace to Copenhagen especially for her granddaughter’s party. Besides Isabella’s circle of friends, various (former) palace staff members were also invited and were allowed to bring their families. Prominent members of Danish high society were also spotted outside Amalienborg.

The dinner itself began around 8 PM. Later in the evening, the celebration reportedly moved to the garden behind the palace, which is part of the royal couple’s private residence. Tents and speakers had been set up there, allowing guests to party in a cozy atmosphere under countless colorful lights. According to the magazine, the festivities continued well past midnight—which is hardly surprising, as Isabella surely wanted to ring in her 18th birthday with her guests.

On Her Birthday, Isabella Was Seen Driving Through Copenhagen

The following day—the princess’s actual birthday—was celebrated more quietly. According to Dana Press, journalists from Se og Hør observed a lot of activity around Amalienborg Palace.

Prince Christian, 19, for example, left early in the afternoon. The heir to the throne is currently completing his military service at the barracks in Slagelse. Frederik and Mary were also out and about on this Easter Monday: the couple left Amalienborg around midday and returned home around 4 PM. Princess Isabella, meanwhile, spent the day receiving visits from friends and was seen driving later in the afternoon. She had already passed her driving test at the beginning of January but, until her 18th birthday, had only been allowed to drive with supervision. Now, she can finally sit behind the wheel on her own and enjoy her new freedoms.
