At the New York City premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, excitement filled the air as Ryan Reynolds made a special announcement that had the crowd buzzing. As he took the stage, the spotlight wasn’t just on the movie—he had something more personal to share.
“I want to start by saying thank you to my wife, Blake, who is here,” Ryan said with a warm smile, glancing toward Blake Lively in the audience. “I also want to thank my kids James, Inez, Betty, and Olin, who are here. I hope that, if I’m lucky, the most traumatic thing in your wondrous life will be watching this movie!” The crowd chuckled as he added his signature humor to the emotional moment.
He looked around at his family and said, “I love that my entire family is here.”
Ryan, 47, and Blake, 36, are proud parents of four children. Their daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, had recently welcomed their newest sibling earlier in the year. Last February, Blake gave birth to their fourth child, just five months after announcing her pregnancy. It was a joyous time for the couple and their fans.
During a February 13, 2023 appearance on CNBC’s Power Lunch, Ryan had shared how thrilled they were about expanding their family. “We’re very excited. Look, we wouldn’t do this four times if we didn’t love it,” he said, his enthusiasm clear. As always, he kept things light-hearted, while showing how much he cherishes being a father.
He also gave an update on how everyone in the family was doing. “Everybody’s doing great. Everybody’s actually doing fantastic,” Ryan said with pride. “If we hadn’t figured it out by now, I think we’d be in deep, deep trouble,” he joked, making sure to keep the moment fun.
At the time, the couple hadn’t revealed their newborn’s name or gender. They have always kept that part a surprise, preferring to find out after the birth.
“We never find out until the baby is born,” Ryan explained during an interview with Today. “I know girls, so I’m kind of hoping for that, but I’m ready for whatever happens.” He made it clear that no matter what, he was just excited to meet their little one.
