Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic lead singer of Black Sabbath, has faced significant health struggles over the past few years. His troubles began with a quad-bike accident in 2003, but things took a turn for the worse in 2019 when he slipped and broke metal screws in his spine during a fall in his bathroom.
Ozzy recounted, “I walked into the restroom in the middle of the night, lost my balance, and fell down on my face. As I hit the ground, I saw a big white light and thought, ‘You’ve finally done it now.’
I softly said to Sharon, ‘Sharon, I can’t move,’ since I understood it was a serious situation and believed I was paralyzed. I think I might have fractured my neck. To summon an ambulance, dial 9-1-1.”
His wife, Sharon Osbourne, recently revealed that Ozzy is due for another surgery, which she hinted could be life-changing, though she didn’t share further details.
Back in his drug-using days, Ozzy had a notorious episode with anesthesia. During one surgery, the surgeon had to use four times the usual amount to knock him out.
When the doctor asked why he wasn’t asleep, Ozzy replied, “I had a method while I was doing all of this s***.” The surgeon ended up giving him two full syringes of medication to put him to sleep.
Though Ozzy broke his bad habits years ago, he sometimes came close to falling back into them. Recently, he admitted to spending $600 on marijuana at a California dispensary but ultimately decided against using it.
“When I got it, I wondered, ‘What the *** did I buy that for?’ How many ounces? I have no reason to smoke since I just received Covid.
I had a thought along the lines of ‘that would be good,’ which was one of those. I never did, though.”
Ozzy attributes his sobriety to being honest with himself and having the complete support of his family.
We wish Ozzy Osbourne the best in overcoming the challenges on his road to returning to performing and recording music.
