The 17th season of “Die Höhle der Löwen” (since 2014) is about to start – and with it, the farewell of three investors. Nils Glagau, 49, Tillman Schulz, 35, and Tijen Onaran, 40, will be leaving with the new episodes of the founder show. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, entrepreneur Judith Williams, 53, shares her thoughts on the upcoming departure and what the viewers can expect from the new season.

The new season of “Die Höhle der Löwen” is about to start. How does it feel to be part of it again?

Judith Williams: It’s a show that connects hearts and visions – a platform for people who want to share their passion and dreams with the world. I feel deep gratitude to be part of it again because it means experiencing inspiration and giving inspiration. Every investment is not just a business model, but a story of courage, perseverance, and innovation.

You’re a true “original lion.” What makes “Die Höhle der Löwen” so special for you? What do you appreciate most about the show?

Williams: “Die Höhle der Löwen” is not just a business show – it’s a movement. It shows that ideas, when pursued with passion and hard work, can become reality. It’s this transformation from vision to reality that deeply touches me. What moves me most is the spirit that fills the room: Entrepreneurs presenting their future with shining eyes, having big dreams, and being ready to give everything to achieve them.

How has the show changed over the years? Are there developments that you find particularly exciting?

Williams: I see a strong shift towards sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and digital business. The founders pitching today not only bring innovative products but also a clear vision for the world of tomorrow. What I find particularly fascinating is the growing focus on impact businesses – companies that want to be economically successful but also take on social responsibility.

Nils Glagau, Tillman Schulz, and Tijen Onaran are leaving after this season. How do you perceive their departures?

Williams: All three have enriched the show with their unique mindset and passion. They have left their mark, created inspiration, and shaped many startups. Farewells also offer an opportunity for new dynamics. The cave remains a place of energy, change, and growth.

What was the atmosphere like behind the scenes given these changes? Has anything in the team dynamic shifted with the upcoming departures of the three?

Williams: We are a team based on trust, respect, and mutual inspiration. Of course, you feel the emotions when valued colleagues leave. There are moments of melancholy, but also a tremendous appreciation for the time we spent together. But as in real life, every change is also an opportunity. The show will evolve, incorporate new perspectives, and maintain its spirit.

How do you see a potential comeback for the three of them? Or would you even wish for that?

Williams: “Never say never.” The business world is dynamic, just like the lion’s den. I can very well imagine that paths may cross again at some point – whether in the show or on other platforms.

What can viewers expect from the final season with Nils Glagau, Tillman Schulz, and Tijen Onaran?

Williams: A season full of passion, inspiring pitches, and real magic moments. It will be emotional and exciting – exactly what “Die Höhle der Löwen” is all about. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal more yet.

How do you view the future of “Die Höhle der Löwen”? What would you wish for the show and its development?

Williams: My wish is for the show to remain a beacon for visionaries. To continue inspiring and encouraging courage.
