There are many things you can’t do until you reach a certain age, like driving a car or renting a hotel room. But did you know you can also become too old for some things? One of those is wearing jeans.
Fashion experts believe there’s an age when you should ditch your favorite jeans. They suggest there’s a magic number when you should toss your denim in the donation bin. And this isn’t just a matter of personal preference; a blogger even supports this claim with statistics.
The data comes from CollectPlus, a UK courier company that surveyed 2,000 shoppers. They asked about shopping habits and wardrobe preferences, including their favorite jeans.
The results were surprising. Respondents agreed that people shouldn’t try to squeeze into denim past the age of 53. But it’s not because of a fashion faux pas. Instead, it’s simply harder to find a pair that fits well by that age.
Unfortunately for denim lovers, the numbers aren’t encouraging. One in ten respondents over the age of 50 said they tried on up to six styles before finding the perfect pair.
The study also found that people experience peak stress levels while shopping for jeans at age 53. Six percent of shoppers were so upset they burst into tears.
Finding the perfect pair of jeans can be incredibly challenging, no matter how old you are. Research shows people spend an average of five to eight days searching for jeans. It’s no surprise that most people don’t buy a new pair for at least three years.
If you still want to rock your favorite denim until you retire, we’ll cheer you on!
