Tanja Szewczenko: Colorful birthday party for her twins’ 4th birthday
For a family birthday photo, Tanja Szewczenko, her husband Norman Jeschke, 46, and their three children, Leo, Luis, and Jona, posed in front of a birthday banner. A cake awaited them on the table; balloons and presents completed the festive atmosphere. Numerous other photos captured the twins’ laughter. What an incredibly beautiful event! Yet for the former German figure skater, joy and sorrow were closely intertwined on this day. Once again, the former AWZ actress was reminded of how unpredictable fate can be.
Daughter Jona awakened their desire for more children
She wrote: “As is often the case on days like this, a mother becomes a little sentimental amid all the joy. I didn’t just think about the day the ‘cookies’ were born, but also about Jona’s birth. Our little dream girl. The magical being who so beautifully changed our lives, who made us parents and showed us how much we love this role. Being parents. Being Mom and Dad.” A role that fills her with pride and happiness.
Jona showed them how meaningful having their own children was. The couple wished for nothing more than a sibling for their daughter. But the road to the birth of the twins was long and difficult.
Four miscarriages pushed the former AWZ star to her limits
For six years, the couple tried to fulfill their dream of having another child. But fate was not kind to them. They endured four miscarriages during that time. On Instagram, the mother of three remembers her four angel babies. She describes this period as an emotional rollercoaster: “Hope. Despair. Stagnation. (…) Love. Togetherness. Family moments.” Both physically and emotionally, Tanja Szewczenko reached her limits.
At one point, the couple came to accept the idea that it simply wasn’t meant to be. But then Tanja became pregnant again—with twins. A double miracle that made them believe in wonders once more. Their struggle had been worth it.
“Today we are the parents of three children! A daughter and identical twin boys. Really? Yes, really,” the German figure skating champion still can’t quite believe her luck. She explains: “Our children’s birthdays mean so much more to us every time. They reflect the life we are blessed to live, the life we wished and longed for. And that is by no means a given.”
“Thank you for the greatest gift of our lives”
After all the hardships, Tanja Szewczenko and her husband Norman Jeschke are able to laugh again. Their three healthy children are the greatest blessing they could ever have received. In the end, the Düsseldorf native dedicates a heartfelt declaration of love to her children: “Thank you for the greatest gift of our lives… you three,” writes the 47-year-old on social media, rounding off her post with a bright red heart.
