She’s arguably the biggest music star in the world right now, capable of drawing tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of fans to any city she performs in. Taylor Swift’s popularity has skyrocketed, similar to Elvis and The Beatles. But even Taylor Swift isn’t immune to the occasional wardrobe malfunction.
Last weekend, the 34-year-old singer was in Stockholm to perform three sold-out shows. Estimates suggest that between 150,000 and 200,000 people flocked to the Swedish capital, with some fans traveling all the way from the US.
As expected, Taylor turned the trio of concert nights into gold, earning rave reviews and boosting the already massive hype surrounding her Eras Tour. However, there was a moment on her third night in Stockholm that showed Swift is human after all, as she experienced a minor wardrobe malfunction in front of the packed arena.
According to reports, the blue dress she was wearing opened up just as she was about to sit at the piano, revealing the gold bralette and sparkly black shorts she had underneath. Ever the professional, Swift quickly refastened her dress and sat down to deliver a heartfelt rendition of her never-before-played-live song, “How Did It End?”
While other artists have faced far worse mishaps on stage, the internet being the internet, the clip of Swift’s dress popping open quickly found its way to TikTok. Some individuals on social media were ready to criticize the “Bad Blood” singer.
“Her shorts look like a diaper. So unflattering,” wrote one person on Facebook.
“Those look like granny panties…..look good on her 😂,” said another on Instagram.
A third speculated that the star might even be pregnant. “Hmm..🤔 looking kind of round on the lower abdomen. Is she trying to tell us something?” they wrote.
“It looks intentional,” a fourth said about the dress slip.
Somewhat harshly, a fifth wrote: “Well she is used to taking her clothes off soo.”
Inexplicably, a sixth added: “She’s a hot mess [and] has been!”
‘Has been’ is definitely not the right term, as are most of the other criticisms. Unfortunately, there’s not much that can be done about negative comments from detractors in such situations, and Taylor has likely reached a point where she doesn’t care what they say.
