This season of The Voice is already off to a spectacular start! With the addition of two surprising new coaches—Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé—alongside seasoned pros Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire, Season 26 feels like a whole new show.
Fans got their first glimpse of this electrifying lineup on September 23, 2024, when The Voice posted a photo on Instagram showing the coaches in action. The anticipation had been building, and the coaches didn’t disappoint when they launched the season with a jaw-dropping performance.
In true The Voice style, the coaches picked a song that captured the energy they’re bringing to the competition. They chose “Heartache Tonight,” a rock anthem by The Eagles from the 1979 album The Long Run. Snoop Dogg was the first to make his entrance, stepping out in a slick black suit and exuding his famous laid-back charisma. He greeted the audience with a grin, setting the stage for what was to come.
Michael Bublé then joined him, looking every bit the gentleman in a classic black tuxedo. His smooth, melodic voice was the perfect contrast to Snoop’s relaxed, cool style. But the highlight of the performance came when Reba McEntire jumped in, her country twang giving the song a whole new twist. Gwen Stefani brought her own playful energy, reminding everyone why she’s a fan favorite.
The fans couldn’t get enough. “Snoop is really holding his own. Wasn’t too sure about him being a judge, but I think he’s going to be great,” one viewer wrote online. “I am SHOOKETH! They really got some excellent vocals out of Snoop,” another fan commented. Many were delighted to see Snoop step outside his usual genre.
“I didn’t know Snoop could sing?!!! I know him as a rapper,” wrote one fan. “Snoop has a great voice. Very smooth—just like him,” said another.
Beyond his performance, Snoop’s style made quite the impression, too. “Love the jacket too. Everybody looked like they were having fun. Reba was serving vocals. This was her song choice. lol. Love it though,” a fan remarked. Snoop had hinted at his excitement for this role months earlier on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“Well, if you know anything about me, you know I love all forms of music. So this is a great opportunity for me to show I really understand music and, you know, be a real coach,” he shared with Fallon, letting everyone know how seriously he was taking this opportunity.
Snoop’s coaching style is already standing out. Along with his guidance, he’s been offering unique prizes to his top performers—a Death Row Records chain, representing the iconic record label he owns. One contestant, Jake Tankersley, who sang a stunning version of “Something in the Orange” by Zach Bryan, was thrilled to be in the running for one of these special tokens.
With Snoop’s distinct style, unexpected vocal talents, and innovative mentoring, fans are buzzing with excitement. This season is shaping up to be an unforgettable chapter in The Voice history, and audiences are eagerly waiting to see what surprises these coaches have in store!
