Naomi Campbell has revealed how she had two young children without ever being seen with a baby bump.
There was much speculation, but now supermodel Naomi Campbell, 54, has confirmed that she welcomed her two children into the world through a surrogate. After becoming a mother to a baby girl for the first time in 2021 at the age of 50 and posing with the newborn on the cover of British “Vogue,” many wondered: Where was the baby bump for this biological child? Now she provides the answer.
When speaking about the significance of her children in an interview with “The Times,” the model reveals when asked if she used a surrogate: “Yes.” The children, whose names she does not disclose, have changed the life of the runway icon: “I hope for a better world for my children. They are 110 percent my priority. I need to be there for their first day of school.” She adds, “My babies mean everything to me. But they also make me fearful for the future.”
Her children don’t need a father
Campbell further reveals in the interview that she never looked for a father for her children and is happy to be “a single mother of a single mother.”
With these words, she wants to alleviate women’s fear of having children: “I have heard many young girls say that having children is too expensive, and that they might not want them […]. I understand that it is financially tough. But my mother had nothing and managed. It is worth it. It is so incredible.” Campbell appeals: “To change this world, we have to rely on the younger generation. I trust my children more than us to do the right thing.”
Modeling ban for her daughter
The 54-year-old wants to protect her children from what she had to experience: starting too early in the modeling industry. “I’m not sure if I would let her start working at 15. It is a ruthless world.” At the height of her career, Campbell became addicted to cocaine and alcohol and entered rehab in 1999.
