After experiencing heartbreak in her past relationships, Valerie Bertinelli has confirmed she’s found love again. She made it Instagram official with a sweet post, signaling she’s off the market.
The 63-year-old actress, who finalized her divorce from Tom Vitale two years ago and lost her first husband, Eddie Van Halen, four years ago, shared the news last Friday. She posted a selfie captioned with lyrics from Taylor Swift’s song “So High School,” which is reportedly about Swift’s current boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Valerie wrote, “🎶 I’ll drink what you think and I’m high from smokin’ your jokes all damn night 🎶.”
A New Chapter
According to Entertainment Tonight, Valerie’s new boyfriend is writer Mike Goodnough, who runs a popular blog under the nickname “The Hoarse Whisperer.” Earlier this month, Valerie hinted at her new relationship in an interview with USA TODAY.
She said, “I’ve met someone. And I’m incredibly grateful for him. It’s unlike any relationship that I’ve ever experienced with a man. I don’t want to say too much, but I feel incredibly blessed and lucky to have met him. I was going to die with my six cats and my dog and be incredibly happy doing it.”
Mike confirmed the rumors on his Substack, writing an essay titled “Rumors, Rumors, Rumors…” He humorously recounted asking Valerie, in a “reporterly voice,” if there was “any truth to the rumor you are dating me? Care to comment?” Valerie’s reply was, “It’s true. I totally am. You’re my boyfriend.”
Reflecting on the Past
In her new cookbook, Indulge, Valerie opened up about her previous marriage to Eddie Van Halen. “Though we got divorced, Ed and I never stopped loving each other,” she wrote. “Who knows, if not for cancer, we might have had a second wind. I’m pretty sure that is wistful thinking.”
A Social Media Romance
Valerie revealed she started following Mike on social media in 2016 or 2017, and he followed her back in 2018. They began exchanging messages, likely after her divorce from Tom Vitale in 2022. “He’s a really super funny, incredibly talented writer,” she said of Mike.
In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine this month, Valerie shared, “I’m in love. It’s a seesaw of emotions because I was adamant I was never falling in love again.”
We’re thrilled to see Valerie so happy!
