Miranda Lambert is under fire again, and this time it’s for her behavior during a performance at the Montana Festival on July 14. Many of her fans were disappointed, and the incident has sparked widespread discussion. The country star has had a history of making headlines for her onstage conduct, and this latest situation only added fuel to the fire.
At the festival, Lambert was performing in front of an audience when she noticed something that seemed to distract her: the crowd wasn’t paying attention. A video of the moment surfaced online, showing Lambert in a denim dress with tassels, her cowboy hat firmly in place as she addressed the crowd with a stern tone.
“I can see your head is not turned the right way, which is this way,” she said, gesturing toward herself. Her southern accent and directness showed just how irritated she was by the distraction. Some fans cheered, but others appeared shocked by her words.
In the video, Lambert didn’t stop there. “So, if you came to visit, you can do it somewhere else,” she said, suggesting to the distracted individuals that they should leave if they weren’t fully engaged. For those who were there to enjoy the music, Lambert reassured them, saying, “If you came to sing and hear some country music and drink some beer… then we’re doing that tonight.”
But the frustration didn’t end with the distracted fans. Lambert also addressed what seemed to be some sort of trouble within the crowd, raising her hands and asking, “Are we clear?” as though she was trying to calm things down. She even threw in a bit of humor, saying, “Fighting is not ok… And it’s always the girls.
We get crazy!” She laughed, trying to lighten the mood, before raising her drink in a toast to the crowd.
After the toast, Lambert realized her drink was empty. “Mine’s empty,” she said with a shake of her cup. In no time, a crew member was by her side, refilling her drink. “This looks like a good time for a drink y’all!” Lambert exclaimed, hoping to shift the energy of the crowd after the tension.
The video quickly made its rounds on social media, with many fans expressing their displeasure. “We left. As did LOTS of the crowd,” one attendee wrote. Others weren’t as understanding, with one saying, “I stopped liking Miranda for this exact reason.”
Some fans who had seen Lambert’s behavior at previous events shared their thoughts, saying things like, “This has always been her. I remember it from her county fair days. Never paid to see her again.” Another user commented, “Miranda, you’re okay at best. Not amazing. Please respect your fans more. They made you what you are.”
Yet, not all the reactions were negative. One fan who had been right in the front row shared their praise for Lambert, saying, “Honestly, she was amazing. We were right up front and loved every second of it.” Another fan agreed, saying, “🔥🔥🔥🔥 I LOVE her. Always have. She’s just brutally honest. Something so many of us lack.”
Lambert is known for her no-nonsense approach when dealing with her audience. In fact, she’s had similar moments before. During a Las Vegas show, Lambert took a pause from singing “Tin Man” to address some women in the crowd who were more focused on taking selfies than listening to the music.
“These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song, and it’s pissed me off a little bit,” she said, calling out the distractions during a sensitive part of the performance.
The Montana Festival incident continued to spark a range of reactions online. Some people found the whole thing awkward. “Yikes, this was completely out of line,” one TikTok user commented. Others felt sympathy for the fans Lambert had called out, with one writing, “Omg… and then imagine how they felt after this???”
But some found it amusing, with one user laughing about the people who left immediately after the outburst. “The people leaving right after she did it lmaoooo that was great!” they wrote.
Regardless of how people feel about it, Miranda Lambert continues to stand out with her unfiltered personality. Some people admire her honesty, while others find it a little too direct. She’s always been a performer who speaks her mind, and it seems she’s not going to stop anytime soon, no matter who she alienates.
Whether you love her or find her behavior off-putting, there’s no denying that Lambert remains one of country music’s most outspoken and polarizing figures.
