Wisconsin Dairy Queen Puts Up ‘Politically Incorrect’ Sign, Owner Stands By His Decision

A sign on the front window of a Dairy Queen restaurant in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, has captured a lot of attention and is now making waves on the internet.

The billboard boldly declares the restaurant’s stance on political correctness, stating that it uses holiday greetings like “Merry Christmas,” “Happy Easter,” and “God Bless America.” It also expresses support for the U.S. military, offering complimentary sundaes and gratitude on Veterans Day.

Restaurant owner Kevin Scheunemann defended the sign, explaining that he put it up nearly four years ago. He wanted to be clear about his and his staff’s dedication to serving God and the nation.

Scheunemann said he decided to put up the sign after a customer complained about Christian music being played in the restaurant. Since then, he claims, the sign hasn’t caused any further issues.

However, the sign recently gained more attention when a tourist from Oregon posted a picture of it on Facebook, expressing concerns about the message’s alleged exclusivity. The post quickly went viral before being taken down.

Reactions to the sign have been mixed. Some people support the message, while others have criticized the tourist who shared the image. Local business owners back Scheunemann’s decision, arguing that customers who disagree with the sign’s principles are free to take their business elsewhere.

In the small village of Kewaskum, residents seem to accept the sign as a statement of the owner’s beliefs.

Dairy Queen’s official response clarified that Scheunemann’s approach is not endorsed by the company.

The sign reflects only the proprietor’s personal views. The company emphasized that all franchisees and employees are required to treat customers with respect and decency, regardless of their religious beliefs.
