Many people see owning a home as a dream come true, but it can sometimes feel like a nightmare due to the challenges of finding the perfect location and affording down payments and mortgages.
Some homeowners even end up selling their homes to escape the burden of mortgage payments.
Let’s meet Precious Price, a woman who found a creative way to get out of her mortgage bind. Instead of giving in to the pressures of homeownership, she transformed her backyard shed into a charming little house. And she did it during the pandemic!
Before the global epidemic, Precious had a unique arrangement. While traveling for business, she rented out her primary residence and used the rental income to pay her mortgage. But in 2020, travel restrictions forced her to stay put.
Looking around her spacious house with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, Precious pondered her options. She openly shared:
“I’m not too excited about paying my mortgage. My mortgage had not been paid on time. I didn’t want to keep paying my mortgage because Airbnb was kind of paying it for me all those months before.”
Embracing her artistic side, Precious decided to convert her shed into a cozy haven. Her tiny home turned out to be a warm and welcoming space.
She proudly showed off her living area, which is incredibly comfortable despite its small size. It features a charming side table and a day bed with cozy pillows, making it the perfect place to relax.
Her kitchen is a marvel of efficient space use. It includes a small dining table for two positioned next to a television. With an induction burner, microwave, and refrigerator, she has everything she needs to cook meals or watch her favorite shows.
When you enter the bathroom, you are greeted by a spacious sliding door. Inside, there’s a luxurious bathroom equipped with a shower, vanity mirror, and toilet. Precious chose a glass shower door, which adds style and makes the space feel larger.
The loft bed is the highlight of her tiny home. Elevated and comfortable, it ensures a restful night’s sleep.
Precious affectionately named her tiny home “The Cove Escape,” reflecting her determination to create a private sanctuary. Her journey from being a mortgage-burdened homeowner to a happy tiny house owner is truly inspiring.
During her house tour, Precious showcased her beautiful home and offered valuable advice to anyone considering a similar journey.
