Nine-year-old Noah, who lives in Florida, dreams of becoming a police officer someday. He deeply respects the contributions these brave men and women make to our society and believes they deserve all the honor we can give them.
One day, Noah’s mom took him to work at the restaurant where she works for “Bring Your Kid to Work” Day. As Noah spent his day at Danny’s, he noticed a lot of people coming in and out. Then, he saw a police officer walk in.
Officer Benitez was there to have his lunch. Seeing him alone, Noah felt he had a special opportunity to show his appreciation.

Noah went to his mom and asked if he could buy the officer’s lunch. His request surprised his mom, Amanda, but she happily agreed. She asked Noah why he wanted to do it, and he replied, “I don’t know who the officer is, but I appreciate his service and just want to say thank you.”
Noah’s mom got the bill, and Noah paid for it with her help. He even wrote a note on the receipt: “I want to be you when I grow up. I appreciate your service.”
Noah then approached Officer Benitez, holding the receipt. Amanda said the officer was so surprised he leaped out of his seat when Noah handed it to him. At first, Officer Benitez looked puzzled, but after reading the heartfelt note, he stood up and shook Noah’s hand.
Amanda took a picture of the moment, which the Lakeland Police Department later posted online. They wrote, “Well, Noah, you touched all of our hearts today.

All of the men and women who wear uniforms every day much appreciate your support.”
Officer Benitez was extremely grateful to Noah and his mother for buying him lunch and brightening his day. He said, “Noah really made a difference. He reminds me why I get up every morning, put on my uniform, and do my job.
It’s for people like him that I strive to set a good example.”
Noah understands the important role police officers play in our society, which is why he dreams of becoming one himself one day. His mom Amanda said that if that happens, she would be a “proud mother.”
