Yvonne Catterfeld and Oliver Wnuk were a couple for 14 years. They share a son together — and it’s particularly this son that the Nord Nord Mord actor admits he missed spending a lot of time with, as he now reveals in an interview.

Both Yvonne Catterfeld, 49, and Oliver Wnuk, 49, rarely speak publicly about their son Charlie, who was born in 2014. Protecting their child’s privacy is their top priority. Wnuk, known from the TV series Stromberg, also has an older daughter from another relationship, about whom little is known as well. In an interview with the portal t-online, Wnuk spoke about his work, the existential fears tied to it, and the time with his children that he missed.

The hit series Stromberg aired from 2004 to 2012, with a first movie featuring Wnuk, Christoph Maria Herbst, 59, and Bjarne Mädel, 57, released in 2014. A second film is set to follow in December 2025. Since 2010, Wnuk has also been starring in the crime series Nord Nord Mord. There’s no end in sight, and the 49-year-old says about his career: “Ever since I started acting, I have been working continuously.” He continues, “I am definitely on the sunny side of the profession, but I am still driven by the fear that circumstances could change overnight. It’s a very realistic scenario.”

The filming of Nord Nord Mord — with new movies produced continuously over the past 15 years — stands out in his career. Such a long-term project “will not happen again,” he emphasizes in the conversation with t-online, and adds: “We are spending our lives together.”

Spending a lot of “life time” — that’s the key phrase. Because: when Wnuk spends time on set, he can’t simultaneously spend it with his family. Looking back, he says about his career and the projects he took on: “I didn’t have to agree to everything just out of a need for security.” And he admits: “Of course, I missed a lot of time with my children. I regret that.”

There Is Some Feeling of Regret — “But …”

Immediately after, the father of two puts it into perspective: “But even if I happen to be away for 200 days, I am also home for 165 days — and then I’m home the entire day. If I compare that to a regular 9-to-5 job, as an actor I don’t come out with a worse average.”

Yvonne Catterfeld and Oliver Wnuk met while filming U-900, which was released in German cinemas in 2008. Their son Charlie was born in 2014. On Christmas Day 2021, Wnuk and Catterfeld announced their separation: “We are spending Christmas together — but have not been a couple since this spring,” the singer wrote on Instagram at the time. She added: “Knowing that — through our son — our paths will cross for the rest of our lives gives us a good feeling. We are celebrating the festival of love — just a little differently from now on.”
